Simple unit build (Protoss):
- Upgrade Marines to 4-4 ( Attack & Defense )
- Collect enough Minerals to upgrade directly to T2 Protoss ( Stalker )
- Do some Health upgrade ( 2-4)
- Try to kill as many heroes as possible with blinking Stalkers and not to loose many stalkers.
- Now it depends on the game if you keep upgrading your stalkers, buy a interest-tower or go straight T4 ( Colossus ). Try to skip T3 ( Immortals ).
Ghost into roaches build Guide
Main purpose of this build is to shut down early medvac play, but its also very strong @ securing center and fighting summon heroes like Firebat/ Tauren / Ashy / Tychus etc..
Your main objective will be to secure center and benefit from mana regen / koh money.
The Hero part
Even if this build is focused on your ghost micro, the hero customizing is very important, since your first & main objective will be to control center, you will need a strong hero to do so, and you want to benefit from it with collecting more xp points than the other teams with your permanent presence on field.
You always wanna mainly go for int only with your hero and start game buying a
• Darkest soul
• Mana cube (sometimes into a second one)
This build can ofc be played with any heroes, but i twill fit more accurately to some summoners and AOE (area of effect) heroes, here are the best ones and why :
Stone zealot : He is imo the most effective hero for this build. His high resistance & regen spell makes him a perfect center holder, Goliaths benefit from special upgrades, storm brings more AOE (you might wanna use a punisher shotgun in order to add a 4th type of aoe and help @ catching heroes), not to speak about his ulti when enemy try to regain center control.
LiquidSnake : Courage is very effective on ghosts, missile spell is an AOE and summoned broodlord benefits from special upgrades. (you might wanna use a ray 5 to be very strong @ hero sniping – strongly upgraded broodling + ray5 is deadly @ blocking & catching hero).
Firebat : Goliaths & turrets benefit from special upgrades and help @ killing units & securing center, aoe fireblast, and cloak can be useful for stuns.
Tychus : careers benefit from special upgrades and help @ finishing heroes, aoe fireblast, and cloak can be useful @ stunning (you might wanna use a biolauncher to focus heroes and secure center)
Nova : courage is very effective on ghosts, the snipe spell helps a lot @ finishing heroes, nuke is a position spell allowing to defend center even more easily.
Heroes with native dispel / repercussion ( like tauren / warpig / woralo ) won’t be really cost effective since ghosts emp & corruption might overlap heroes abilities.
3 ghost is the first step ( = zoo pop limit without investing any more money )
once you reached it, you can take interest tower if you feel like the game will be a long and hard one, but the safest way would be to take an utility tower later.
You will basically need to choose between theses 3 followings, according to what your facing :
• full ghosts
You usually wanna choose few upgrades ( 3 3 for instance) into roaches BUT full ghost can be useful when facing strong summoners (Tauren / Firebat / Ashy / Tychus) or air zoo.
If an enemy goes ghost to counter you, then you need to rush roaches + burrow speed and toxine even if low or no upgrades, roaches toxin do DOT (Damage Over Time), it means that its really efficient @ killing ghosts (even if the ghost got mana, he will die @ home after using his TP ability)
If you go for roaches :
You rarely need to hide your roaches and try to silently farm KOH, hoping for enemy not to have detection, you bought theses roaches, so try to use them well, burrow can be used to trap heroes / escape difficult situations / try a base snipe, and will mainly force each team to spend money on detection (remember that you can emp/ stun opponent observer )
Roaches enemy is mainly whole t5 units, & toss / hybrid t4, overfed heroes also, but with a few stuns, corruption and eventually a ray5, you should even be able to kill very strong heroes.
Roaches micro need to be aggressive try to circle and lock enemy units/ hero.
You wanna collect mana @ center, don’t be overly aggressive with emp, you wanna try to always keep some mana stacked, your main goal being to secure center and let the threat of emp spamming, when you spam then be sure to have a retreat path because good players wont hesitate to rush you when they see your mana bars empty
When fighting against broodlord players, you wanna focus medvac realy hard @ game start, emp remove the medvac mana & potential aog ‘s, stun allow you to kill them, if a broodlord player cant secure center he wont be a threat in the near future.
Ghost main counters :
• Burrowed roaches with toxin (you usually wanna buy an obs after your 3 ghosts, especially if your facing zoo players)
• Ray5 heroes gonna try to focus your ghost if such heroes are around, prepare aog, stuns, and eventually invest in a strong antihero weapon like ray5
• Most melee units will be dangerous, because of the circle potential, but zealots/dark zealots even more, because the 2 pronged attack kills your ghosts after TP ability used.
• Toss & hybrid t4 are deadly, if you face colossi, you might wanna envisage switching into air zoo , if you face hybrids YOU NEED to invest in broodlings (bio launcher and eventually broodlords)
• T5 = basically all zoo play will be really hard > often to better feed your ally /switch to hero play .
Tips and Role
ALWAYS carry an AOG to save a ghost life, remember that loosing 550 mins in early game can put you FAR behind in hard games.
Beg your allies to be careful about blocking your ghosts.
Remember that if your facing strong toss or hybrid unit players, you will reach danger zone when they will start collecting money @ stalker / darkzelots for T4, you can basically spot it when they stop upgrading, then you want to basically try finish the game before the transition.
To sum it up, this build is a passive > early to mid game securing center while increasing special units upgrades – Into really aggressive one > mid to late game trying to end it before T4/T5
Jim Raynor Guides
Jim Raynor is a hero who is pretty weak during the earlygame. He doesn’t have any buffs and his damage spell, grenade, does very little damage. However, when he has earned a lot of experience his grenade can instantly kill large armies and have a huge impact on battles with his forcefields. Therefore, you should constantly be looking for ways to earn experience (and if needed, sacrifice units and minerals to do so).
Basic order in which to pick experience points and abilities
Whenever you get experience points, spend all of them on Intelligence. Raynor requires a lot of mana and the intelligence helps his grenade.
Order to pick abilities in
ForceField (Note that even though graviton beam will be available you shouldn’t pick it.)
After this, it depends on the situation. However you should never go beyond Graviton Beam level 1.
Basic order in which to spend minerals
Throughout the game you should spend money on courage scrolls and regeneration scrolls to keep your army alive and dealing damage. It’s okay to spend a lot of minerals this way, as long as you earn enough to replace the scrolls. Remember that you’re basically exchanging minerals for hero experience.
Sell your TP scrolls, and buy the courage scroll at an Item Shop. (Use the scroll when you engage your enemy to give your units more attack so they will get more kills and earn you experience.)
Get Armor +1
Get Attack +1
Get Armor +2
Upgrade to Reaper
Get Attack +2
Get Speed+HP upgrade level 1
Get Attack +3
Get the Old Relic from your Base Shop
Get 1 or 2 Boots from the Item Shop
After this you should be in a pretty good position to win the game. If your units are staying alive very well during your battles keep upgrading their attack & HP+Movement. If they are dying a lot to damage spells upgrade to the next tier (marauders->scooters->thors).
Rory Swann Guides
The main dynamic in this build is to reach a very strong spell caster, able to farm units with stomp, face heroes with bigslimed ray 5, and to escape fights with blink /armor and then recall in the lategame. Spell focused build
All Rory spells are good to take, so I wont give any order of spell picking, except maybe courage first in order to benefit more from your marines @ early game, and then stomp lvl priority.
This Rory build is basically based on spells so get as much int as possible, I usually end it spending xp point on Intelligence ONLY. In some cases you’ll need to grab a few strenght points.
Keep in mind that this build is just a matrix, it should be adjusted to any specific situation in order to adapt to ennemy strat and be as efficent as possible.
Item – Price – Shop [BIS = Base Item Shop | SIS = Side Item Shop (East/West) | RIS = Receipt Shop | CIS = Center Item Shop | WS = Weapon Shop]
Darkest soul 800 SIS
Mana cube 600 SIS
Ether 100 CIS
Mana expander 700 RIS
Light armor 500 BIS
sell Mana Amulet / buy Shield
booster 700 SIS
Ray5 1400 WS
@ this step you should be able to have decent resistance, while being able to grab hero kills with ray & start farming 0 0 marines – you should be able to go out without your marines (you still can use little packs if needed f.e. against broddlings).
Next step is
Speed Expander 1400 RIS
but it will decrease your resistance a lot, so you usually wannna collect 2k in order to buy straight speed expo, sell your boots & buy a
Power Stone 600 SIS
You also might need a
Ribbon 800 BIS
since you should have reach decent spells lvl (ulti at least lvl 1 & stomp lvl 3 / 4), and you might start facing strong anti-hero builds (often rayed zera/jims/rorys) so I often sell darkest soul to free a inventory slot and buy one at this timing, if no strong antihero on the map jump straight to the holy maiden step.
The rest of the build is mostly grabbing an
Holy Maiden Armor 1050 RIS
Bag 800 SIS
and filling the free slots (2) with
Slim Shadys into Big Slim Shadys 900/100 SIS/RIS
To end it I usually go for an utility tower in order to allow me to recall and be able to aog twice my main building.
Tips & Role
Also note this build is a support build. It means that you will assume the job that a « mobile » member of your team should assume (especially with blink) :
Farming weakest teams.
Backup unit players in danger
Hero / Zoo sniping missions
Scrolls / stuns carrier
Dont forget to spread up your inbase marines @ late game, and always carry an health potion and aog during the whole mid to late game, someone might wanna snipe your low hitpoint barrack J.
STR / INT Guide
First sell teleport items if you start random. Lately you have to sell boots and amulet too.
First 3-4 levels: use marines with courage buf and put all hero points on int. When you start lvl4 or 5 you should have already bought darkest soul and collect minerals to buy Smart Cube. When you bought Smart Cube put all points on STR.
4) Tower of interest (You should decide carefully if (4) should be before (3) or vice versa. This depends on how effectively you can feed and if you can stay close to middle.)
5) Speed exp
6) Holy maiden armour (Again you might want to make (6) before (5) but this is not recommended in general).
From now on you should be able to farm effectively on units until rank 3. Then you might want to buy old relic, ribbon (definitely if someone comes up with ray5), sell darkest soul, buy bag and then choose between shadies or bionic plasma.
Tips & Role
Note1. This is an anti-units build, meaning that with a full build you will be able to take down an army of t4 with average updates using stomp and blink. Its not very effective at hero killing, but with stomp>lvl4 and a stun rocket you can kill heroes too. If enemy goes t5 you might want to change to agi and probably buy a hellfire.
Note2. Some ppl prefer buying (2) as a first item (before darkest soul) which is also accepted as long as you’re able to stay alive and close to middle.
Note3. Everything depends on timing and how effectively you can feed at start. This shit cant be taught…
Note4. All the above are just a recommendation. In a real game things can change since a lot of times you have to overcome situations and opponent builds (you are not playing alone ).
Tauren Space-Marine Guides
The Naked Tauren Guide
The idea of this build is pretty simple : farm farm farm.
I won’t advise you to go for this build in strong lobbies, but a single weaker team can make it worth it.
– darkest soul
– potion > Ray9
That’s it 😀
Then you need to grab ethers & potions and go fight.
You NEED to farm, you NEED to spot > weak teams, teams without native dispels, regen or ghost/templar players.
Main idea is to upgrade special units WHILE fighting ( use a control group for your barrack ) , balance the order between attack armor and life according to what your fighting > f.e. mainly armor against high dps units like marines or hydras, mainly life/speed against mobile units like stalkers, mainly attack against armored units like heroes or marauders, and so on … If your not familiar with units statistics , just balance it and get one each attack > armor > life etc..
Ideally your mates go for unit builds (1 at least).
Use big fights to sneak into bases.
You eventually can switch into zoo units @ mid or late game ( after reaching decent special units upgrades ) to counter specifical units / zoo or heroes, or to defend your base ( roaches / tanks ) but it will probably slow down / stop your special units upgrade process, THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO MAKE THIS BUILD EFFICIENT, Its just a potential emergency switch.
Tips & Tricks
You can micro your Zombies! Don’t hesitate to split / concave / focus, just like standard units
You can use armor of God on abominations, they tend to be easily focused because of their speed.
You can use buff scrolls in combination with thriller.
As always stop using 0 0 marines when OS spells are around.
